After basic setup, dive into the Settings menu to unlock IPTV Smarters Pro's full potential. These tweaks make a huge difference.
Go to Settings → Player Selection. Try each option:
Smarters Player → Best for most users, optimised for IPTV.
ExoPlayer → Good for low-end devices, less battery drain.
IJK Player → Best for problematic streams, advanced codecs.
Switch if you experience playback issues with one player.
In Settings → Player Settings → Hardware Decoder, turn this ON. This uses your device's GPU for video decoding instead of CPU — resulting in smoother 4K playback, less heat, and lower battery drain. Essential for 4K content on Firestick and Android TV.
If TV Guide is empty or outdated: Settings → EPG → Refresh EPG Data. This forces a full re-download of the 7-day program guide. Takes 3-5 minutes. Recommended once a week for accuracy.
Under Settings → Player Settings → Stream Format, choose:
Auto → Lets app decide (recommended for most).
MPEG-TS → Better for unstable connections.
HLS → Better for some Apple TVs.
Try different formats if one isn't working well.
For families with kids: Settings → Parental Controls. Set a 4-digit PIN. Lock adult/restricted channel categories. The PIN is required to access locked content. Peace of mind for parents.
Long-press any channel (or use the heart icon) to add to favorites. Access them instantly from the home screen — no need to scroll through thousands of channels every time. Organise by sport, movies, news, etc.
During playback, tap the screen → settings icon. Switch between multiple audio tracks (English, Irish Gaeilge, original language). Enable/disable subtitles where available. Particularly useful for foreign films and series.

Go to Settings → EPG → Refresh EPG Data. Wait 3-5 minutes for full re-download. If still empty, try Reset App Data and re-login. EPG sometimes takes 24 hours to fully populate after first setup.
During playback, tap screen → settings → Audio Track. Switch tracks to test. If issue persists, change Player Selection in app settings. Audio sync issues are usually fixed by switching between Smarters Player, ExoPlayer, and IJK Player.
If most channels work but specific ones don't, it's usually a server-side issue. Try the channel again in 5 minutes. WhatsApp us the specific channel name and we'll check our server immediately — these are usually fixed in minutes.
Force-close the app and re-open. If still crashing: clear cache and data from your device settings → Apps → IPTV Smarters Pro → Storage → Clear Cache (then Clear Data). Re-enter credentials. As last resort, uninstall and reinstall.
